These are pictures of a second cabinet I'm building. I started it weeks ago but never got around to putting on the tolex. The cabinet is exactly the same as the first. It's 30" wide, 17" high and 14 1/4" deep. These are measurements taken from a 2x12 Mesa Boogie Rectifier cabinet. I'm putting on the same exact tolex that you find on any standard black Mesa Rectifier cabinet. However, instead of using the iron method with white glue, I'm going to use standard contact cement. The second picture shows the wood filler along the box joints. These box joints were cut with a jig I made that clamps to the work piece. The joints are cut with a router.

The pictures below show how the tolex is marked on the backing side and then taped in position with witness marks drawn on the tape. You then use a razor blade to cut through the tape. In theory, when you glue the tolex down, the tape and witness marks should line up again. In my two tries so far, this hasn't happend. But it doesn't really matter as long as you don't stray to far from the mark. Contact cement is brushed on to the wood and the back of the tolex. Only brush on cement, one section at a time. When it starts to tack up, press it down and roll it out with a j-roller.
